Job Description Summary

The Department of History at Auburn University seeks applications for a tenure-track appointment in the history of Africa or the African diaspora at the rank of assistant professor, period and specialization open. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in African history, their area of specialty, and contribute to Auburn’s core curriculum in world history. A Ph.D. in History or Africana Studies is required at time of appointment; outstanding candidates who are in the final state of doctoral candidacy will be considered but completion of the degree is expected prior to the start of the appointment in August 2021.

The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
