The Committee on Degrees in History and Literature seeks applications for Lecturers in American and Ethnic Studies (especially Latinx Studies or Asian American Studies), and for Lecturers whose work focuses on imperialism and postcoloniality. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise on race or ethnicity in global and transnational contexts, including those who work on diaspora, migration, colonization and decolonization, and who can teach a range of geographic areas and historical periods.

Lecturers will be responsible for designing and executing interdisciplinary tutorial programs for sophomores and juniors, directing senior honors theses, advising students on curricular matters, evaluating essays and senior theses, conducting senior oral examinations, and teaching seminars of their own design. The position is for three years, with the second two years contingent on a satisfactory performance review during the first year.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2021. A doctorate in a related discipline is
required by the time the appointment begins. Also required is a strong interdisciplinary
background and teaching experience. Demonstrated commitment to teaching is desired. Harvard is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
